Judy Murray, Mother of 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist and US Open Champion Andy Murray tweeted the following from Julia Goerges' 2nd round match on Margaret Court Arena:
- Chant of the day. On MCA...Julia Georges v Romina Oprandi. "Hey Gorgeous, ur so fine, ur so fine, u blow my mind. Hey gorgeous". Uh huh.
Following the match, Goerges stated in an on-court interview that she appreciated the unique vocal gestures from the crowd:
"Yeah, the support was amazing. Thanks for that first of all and I think you created some really funny songs about me. What I heard, well it worked and hopefully you will come again and support me again."

In the match, Goerges hit 7 aces en route to a comfortable 6-3 6-2 victory over Romina Oprandi of Switzerland. The match lasted just 64 minutes. Goerges on today's win: "I kept my level a little bit up from the first round and stepped my level up and tried to be aggressive and focus and yeah, it worked out well."
Goerges will face the winner of the Sam Stosur-Jie Zheng match in the 3rd round. Goerges: "Well, it's gonna be a tough match again next round but I'm pleased that I'm into the third round."
Goerges made a run to the 4th round of last year's Australian Open, her best ever result in a Grand Slam tournament to date and shared that she likes playing in Melbourne: "For me, it's the best Grand Slam, here."
