PETE ZIEBRON
Andy Murray and Grigor Dimitrov are scheduled to meet in the opening round of the Brisbane 250 to begin 2024. Murray leads the H2H 8-4 but has not defeated the Bulgarian since the Beijing Final in 2016.
Their last meeting was just a few months ago in the 2nd round of the US Open with Dimitrov prevailing easily in straight sets 63 64 61. In fact two of their last three matches have been at the US Open, as Murray won in straights in 2016, dropping just five games in their round of 16 clash.
Despite facing each other in every major except Roland Garros, this will only be their second match since Murray last win in 2016 in Beijing. Ten of their twelve matches happened between 2013-2016. Ironically, Dimitrov defeated Murray in straight sets at Wimbledon in 2014 in a Quarterfinal.
They met in the Brisbane final in 2013 in their second match and Murray won 64 as Dimitrov was not able to continue. Dimitrov enters Brisbane this year as the 2nd seed and the victor will play the win her of the Daniel Altmaier - Li Tu match.
